Percent Solids and Specific Gravity

To convert between percent solids and specific gravity:


          S = K(G-1)/G
     or  G = K/(K-P)

           where:
              S = Percent Solids
              G = Specific Gravity
              K = D/(D-1)
              D = Density of the Solid Phase

NOTE: For typical slips and glazes where the density
      of the solid phase is 2.6, K= 2.6/1.6 = 1.625
